Nach seinem Studium der Betriebswirtschaftslehre an der Goethe-Universität in Frankfurt am Main war Herr Beimborn Promotionsstipendiat der Deutschen Forschungsgemeinschaft und promovierte 2007 am Lehrstuhl für Wirtschaftsinformatik und am E-Finance Lab der Goethe-Universität. Im Anschluss war er bis 2013 Akademischer Rat und Habilitand an der Otto-Friedrich-Universität Bamberg. Er war Gastforscher an der Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge (2006 und 2007) und an der Georgia State University in Atlanta (2010-2011). Seit März 2014 ist er Professor für Wirtschaftsinformatik an der Frankfurt School of Finance & Management. Prof. Beimborn unterrichtet verschiedene Module im Kontext Wirtschaftsinformatik, IT-Management und Digital Management im Bachelor, Master und MBA. Er verantwortet zudem die Master in Management Concentration „Digital Business“. Gemeinsam mit Prof. Dr. Moormann leitet er das Process Lab der Frankfurt School.
       
Seine aktuellen Forschungsaktivitäten umfassen das Management von Outsourcing- und Nearshoring-Beziehungen, IT Governance und Business/IT Alignment, Standardisierung von Geschäftsprozessen, BPO und Shared Services in der Finanzindustrie, den Geschäftswertbeitrag von Service-orientierten Architekturen (SOA), sowie die Rolle von IT zur Unterstützung von Innovationsprozessen. Er hat zahlreiche Artikel in einschlägigen IS-Journals (MIS Quarterly, Journal of Management Information Systems, Journal of IT u.a.) veröffentlicht und ist Mitglied des Editorial Review Boards des Journals of the AIS.
