East-West Centre for Business Studies and Cultural Science
The East-West Centre for Business Studies and Cultural Science (ECBC) is a research centre at Frankfurt School of Finance and Management that focuses on cutting-egde interdisciplinary research into innovative change in the world economy and global business at the interfaces between the economy and culture, society and politics. The ECBC enjoys generous financial support by the Dr Werner Jackstädt Foundation.
Currently, researchers at the ECBC concentrate on the economic and business dynamics of the Eurasian continent, which is emerging as a powerhouse of the world economy in the 21st century. These investigations are grounded in foundational work on the role of culture in economic dynamics and institutional change, conjoined with contemporary approaches to political economy. Our work integrates qualitative and quantitative methods, economics, the social sciences and the humanities, as well as historical and contemporary perspectives. The ECBC collaborates with leading research institutes in the Eurasian region.
The ECBC actively contributes to content development in Frankfurt School advanced teaching, especially in the context of the Master of International Business program. Together with other FS operational units, it offers services and advice related to Eurasian business and economics.
