Student Initiatives

In addition to their involvement in the classroom, our students have taken the initiative to start several programs that aim to enrich their studies. Here are just a few MIB-specific programs that students have initiated outside of the Student Council activities that are available to all students of the Frankfurt School.

Global Executive Talks (GET)

The GET brings distinguished business leaders to speak to the MIB program participants, as well as the entire Frankfurt School community. This student-led initiative leverages the Frankfurt School’s rich network of alumni and supporters to bring speakers that can enhance students’ education through insights from real world experiences.

The first topic, presented by Dr. Sönke Bästlein, the founder of McKinsey’s European Asia House, spoke on the relevant topic: “Cultural differences - A paradigm that still holds true?”

In addition to the GET initiative, a wide variety of leaders and policy makers speak regularly at the Frankfurt School. These guests represent a wide variety of backgrounds and industries and include notable names such as the Federal Minister for Economic Cooperation and Development, Heidemarie Wieczorek-Zeul, who spoke recently.

China Panel

This bi-weekly, student-led forum provides a consistent platform to discuss China-related economic issues and current questions in a friendly, informative atmosphere. Topics differ from week to week and have ranged from essential topics such as the “Transformation of the Financial System,” and “Monetary Policy and the Role of the Central Bank,” to the “Stock Markets” and “Currency Exchange Rate Management.” The forum relies upon the strong interest of programme participants in China-related issues, as well as on the practical knowledge of Chinese students involved in the study programme.

Practitioner's Corner

This speaker's forum looks to bring issues that young professionals face in the workplace to light. The Practitioner´s Corner brings forth a unique perspective on managing the transition from student to professional life is brought forth by inviting young working professionals to speak and interact with current students.
