| Given the importance of the financial industry in shaping the world’s response to climate change and the rapidly increasing global demand for new energy solutions, Frankfurt School of Finance & Management decided to develop its course on Sustainable Energy Finance (SEF). Now, we are proud to present our two Summer Academies for 2012 within the new framework of Frankfurt School – UNEP Collaborating Centre for Climate & Sustainable Energy Finance (the Centre). | ![]() |
The Sustainable Energy Finance Summer Academies will give a broad theoretical and practical insight regarding the economics and dynamics of the most significant RE sources, including wind, solar, biomass, geothermal, and others. The course will furthermore provide and discuss financing solutions for these investments with a strong emphasis on best practice approaches.
The 5-day training course on Sustainable Energy Finance is coordinated and implemented by the Centre. Experienced senior trainers and practitioners will combine both academic, technical, and financial RE/EE knowledge.
Further, it will focus on:
- Climate change & policy negotiations
- Trends and markets for sustainable investments
- Legal issues: laws and regulations
- Sources of financing: public, private and carbon markets
- Overview & structure of RE/EE project finance: Industrialised, transition and developing countries
- Project analysis from RE/EE: Risk identification & allocation, cash flows, and financial modelling
- Risk management of RE/EE projects
- Real-life case studies
Target Group The Sustainable Energy Finance Summer Academies have a clear finance focus and are aimed at trainees and specialists in the following sectors: Financial institutions (project financiers in RE/EE: asset side, investment banking, microfinance institutions); initiator / fund houses: Private equity or venture capital; plant operators and manufacturers; project developers and engineers; insurance companies; investors: Public and private; advisory professions (law firms, business and tax consultants); academics and researchers. Other experienced professionals are of course welcome to apply to the programme.
