After your arrival

Move into your accommodation
Your rental documents will be ready and waiting for you at the International Office. Here you will get your rental agreement, an inventory and your keys before you can move into your room.
Within the first week after your arrival, you must open a bank account. Students who had to open a blocked account for their student visa to Germany already must activate this account at the related bank. The rent will be transferred automatically by direct debit authorization. Please do NOT set up a standing order!

We would recommend opening a bank account within the Cash Group, where you can withdraw money from any bank within the group free of charge, and these banks are represented in almost every city in Germany. The following banks belong to the Cash Group: Commerzbank, Deutsche Bank, Dresdner Bank, HypoVereinsbank, and Postbank.

You should then come back to the International Office with your bank details and sign a direct debit authorization. With this authorization you are allowing Frankfurt School to automatically withdraw the rent from your account from the second month on. You therefore do not need to transfer the rent again or set up a standing order.

Warning: Please make sure that there is always enough money in your account at the beginning of the month. The rent is normally taken on the third working day of the month.

After moving into your new home, you must register your address at the local registration office (Einwohnermeldeamt). The International Office will inform you about the address, opening times and how to get there. If you entered Germany with a student visa the registration office will then forward your data to the aliens’ office Ausländeramt). About three months after your arrival you must apply for a residence permit (visa extension) at the aliens’ office. A list of documents you should have prepared by then you find here.

Enrollment
Enrollment is your personal registration as a student. For enrollment you will need:
