Inaugural lecture Prof. Dr. Christina E. Bannier

Frankfurt am Main, 02.04.2008 - The economic role of rating agencies – stabilising influence or crisis intensification?

Professor Dr. Christina E. Bannier has been a member of staff at the Frankfurt School of Finance & Management since March 2007.

She holds the position of Commerzbank Foundation Professor for Small Business Financing.
Born 1974. Read Economics at the Justus-Liebig University in Gießen; Graduated in June 1999 (distinction). From August 1999 to April 2002 Scientific Officer to the Chair of Money, Credit and Currency (Prof. Dr. Jochen Michaelis) at the University of Kassel; Doctorate in “Information Dissemination in Currency Crises” (summa cum laude) – supported by a grant from the German National Academic Foundation. From July 2002 to September 2006 Scientific Assistant to the Chair of Credit Services and Financing at the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main (Prof. Dr. Jan Pieter Krahnen). Post doctorate qualification (Venia Legendi in Business and Political Economics) in May 2006 (“Essays in Information and Coordination in Financial Markets”).
From October 2006 until joining the Frankfurt School: Administrator of the Institute of Theory of Financial Markets at the Leibniz University in Hannover.

From April to June 2002 Visitor to the Financial Markets Group of the London School of Economics and from September to October 2002 Visitor to the San Diego State University in San Diego, USA.

From 2002 to 2004 Christina E. Bannier coordinated the Research Network “Capital Markets & Financial Interaction in Europe” for the EZB and the Center for Financial Studies.

Professor Bannier also acts as a consultant for various scientific journals, including European Economic Review, Journal of Economic Behavior and Organization, Journal of International Money and Finance, Journal of Economics, International Journal of Central Banking, Zeitschrift für Betriebswirtschaft.

She publishes work in such publications as the Journal of Monetary Economics, Review of International Economics, Journal of Institutional and Theoretical Economics and the Journal of Economics and presents the results of her research at international conferences.

On Wednesday, 2 April 2008 Professor Bannier will give her inaugural lecture in the Audimax at the Frankfurt School. We hope you will be able to attend.
