MIB students on excursion to Paris
Twenty-two MIB students were in Paris, France, for a one week excursion from November 30 to December 4 as part of their specialisation European Business Relations. The excursion is the final part of the specialisation in which students have the opportunity to interact with managers and other experts from business and learn more about doing business in another major European city. The week was filled with company visits to Société Générale and ACCOR, viewing the 57th session of the Western European Union discussing security and defence issues, a lecture on Luxury Brand Management at our partner university, INSEEC, and other cultural activities such as a Paris city tour and museum visits.
When asked what the most interesting part of the trip was, Kyle Patrick Long, a MIB student from the US, said: “For me, the most interesting presentation was the Accor visit. It was fascinating to see a complete overview of a brand portfolio, along with each brand's positioning and how management directs such a wide variety of images under one corporate group. It was also interesting to see this from a French perspective, although it was clear that Accor really is a global brand, despite being proud of their French roots. I also really enjoyed the time we were allowed to explore the city, both on our own, and in the context of some of the group cultural activities, from the bus tour, to the museum visits. This trip had a good balance between group activities and free time in order for us to experience Paris in the context of business and culture.”
We would like to thank our partner university, INSEEC, for assisting us with organizing the company visits, group dinners and welcoming us on campus.
