Frankfurt am Main, 14.04.2010 - Matthias Mitscherlich, CEO of Ferrostaal, at Frankfurt School

 

Dr. jur. Matthias Mitscherlich looks back on a truly international career. He studied law in Giessen and Hamburg, received his doctoral degree in law from the University of Frankfurt and has a Master in Comparative Jurisprudence from the New York University.

His professional career started in New York as Foreign Associate in the law firm of Alexander & Green. After holding several positions, including co-owner of Mitscherlich & von Scheven GmbH, Duisburg, 
he joined Klöckner INA (Nigeria) Limited in 1983 as Managing Director. Between 1983 and 1999
Dr. Mitscherlich worked in several different divisions of the Klöckner & Co Group including 
Chairman of the Board of Klöckner INA GmbH. In 2000 he became the CEO of the Athens International Airport S. A.

In 2003 Dr. Mitscherlich joined the Executive Board of MAN AG, Munich (until 2009), and became Chairman of the Executive Board Ferrostaal AG, Essen.

Ferrostaal globally provides industrial services while focussing on four core competences: project development, project management, partner integration, and system integration. Its annual turnover amounts to 1.6 billion Euro. The company employs ca. 5.800 people.

Dr. Mitscherlich serves as Ferrostaal’s Chairman of the Executive Board and its Chief Executive Officer. During his lecture at Frankfurt School he will outline the reasons why cultural competence and open mindset are key factors for success in global competition.
