East-West Centre for Business Studies and Cultural Science

The East-West Centre for Business Studies and Cultural Science is a research centre at Frankfurt School that focuses on the analysis of innovation and change in the global economy, with special reference to Eurasia, which is emerging as a powerhouse of the world economy in the 21st century. These investigations are grounded in foundational work on the role of culture in economic dynamics and institutional change, conjoined with contemporary approaches to political economy. ECBC research integrates qualitative and quantitative methods, economics, the social sciences and the humanities, as well as historical and contemporary perspectives. The ECBC collaborates with leading research institutes in the Eurasian region, especially Russia and China. ECBC research contributes to program development at Frankfurt School and is directly reflected in teaching activities. ECBC researchers transfer new knowledge in applications, such as in consulting activities.

The ECBC receives generous financial support by Dr. Werner Jackstädt Foundation, including the Dr. Werner Jackstädt Junior Professorship in Chinese Business Studies, a PhD position and awards for students and researchers in the field of Chinese economic and business studies.
