In June 2014, Frankfurt School earned the prestigious EQUIS accreditation, one of only five institutions in Germany.
EQUIS assesses institutions as a whole, evaluating all activities and sub-units such as degree and non-degree programmes including executive education, research and community outreach. Accreditation, as with other accrediting bodies, is awarded to business schools based on quality. EQUIS differentiates itself by looking for close interaction with the corporate world and a high level of internationalisation. EQUIS also looks at a school’s strategy, and the actions it undertakes to achieve its strategic objectives.
The EQUIS accreditation was launched in 1997 by the European Foundation for Management Development (EFMD), a leading international network of business schools and companies at the forefront of raising the standards of management education and development globally. EQUIS accreditation has been earned by less than 1% of the world's business schools with, today, 156 business schools in 40 different countries accredited. EQUIS is a continuous improvement process, whereby accredited schools commit themselves to periodic reviews vis-à-vis the EQUIS quality standards and criteria.
