On March 31, 2015 Silvia Kreibiehl, Head of the Frankfurt School - UNEP (United Nations Environment Programme) Collaborating Centre for Climate & Sustainable Energy Finance, and Professor Dr Ulf Moslener, Professor for Sustainable Energy Finance at Frankfurt School and Research Director of the FS-UNEP Centre, introduced the new Global Trends in Renewable Energy Investment Report 2015 at Frankfurt School of Finance & Management. The report states a 17 per cent increase in global investments in renewable energy, which is now at 270 billion US dollars. Silvia Kreibiehl explained that besides a soar in solar plants in Japan and China, record investments in offshore wind projects in Europe are two of the main reasons for this development. Renewable Energy accounts for 49 per cent of 2014’s newly-installed generating capacity, thus reaching a new record.
