Frankfurt am Main, 08.05.2017 12:00:00

On Monday, April 24, 2017, Alumni & Friends of Frankfurt School of Finance & Management gathered in Berlin to discuss the “Future of Work”.  Invited by Frankfurt School Alumni Relations, about 50 guests joined the event at Commerzbank #openspace.  FS Alumnus Christof Weidl, Sales Manager at #openspace, introduced the co-working space in Berlin’s Bülowstraße, which serves as a meeting hub for startups and the German ‘Mittelstand’.

Following, Dr Elisa Antz, Head of Student, Alumni & Career Services at Frankfurt School, welcomed the panelists Benita Barten, FS Alumna and Business Development Commerzbank #openspace, Ken Knoll, Senior Product Manager, at BCG Digital Ventures, Janis Salmen, FS Alumnus and Lead Supplier Management at Zalando SE; David Stuck, FS Alumnus, Venture Capital Analyst at bmp Beteiligungsmanagement AG and mentor at startupbootcamp as well as Kajetan von Armansperg, Co-Founder of leapsome.

The panelists discussed the importance of individual ownership and freedom in the workplace, especially as qualities such as creativity have become more important against the backdrop of digitisation. Feedback culture was another key topic. One panelist sketched a reverse mentoring scheme, where younger employees with more digital affinity mentored their superiors. Several members of the audience were rather skeptical towards more substantial measures such as 360° feedback. One of the critical points was, how the feedback would influence HR decisions and how it could actually be used to improve the own performance in the workplace.

The participant´s feedback on the location and hosts was very positive and stressed out that Frankfurt School should organise similar events more often in Berlin in order to put the German capital more firmly on the FS alumni map.
