Frankfurt am Main, 06.06.2017 12:00:00

On Wednesday, May 31, students and staff of Frankfurt School of Finance & Management celebrated the first International Day of the year. In order to strengthen diversity and intercultural relations, the event takes place every semester. The International Day is organised by the student initiative "FS Buddy" together with Frankfurt School´s International Office.

At this year´s FS International Day, students from nine countries prepared food and beverages from their home country. Beside international students from Brasil, China, Greece, Italy, Kenya, Mexico, Russia and Spain, studying in one of Frankfurt School’s Bachelor or Master programmes or spending their semester abroad at the campus in Frankfurt, two German students cooked culinary specialities from Hessia. For the first time represented at the International Day was Greece.

Mabel Ollimo from Kenya, who is currently studying the Master of International Business at Frankfurt School finds the International Day a good opportunity to try food from different countries without traveling around the globe. “Beside trying international delicacies the event gives me the opportunity to get in touch with people from all over the world – this is what I like a lot about Frankfurt School”, says Mabel Ollimo. For the International Day, she and two other students from her home country prepared Kenyan food such as Pilau and Kachumbari, a special salad.

“I just learned how to cook, when I came to Frankfurt for my studies. When I go back to Brasil, I will definetly continue to make food”, says Luciana Faria who spends her semester abroad on campus. “Frankfurt as a city is very similar to Frankfurt school – not too big but very international. This is what I also like about the International Day – getting in touch with different people and trying tasty food”, says the student.
