Frankfurt am Main, 04.09.2017 12:00:00

On Thursday, August 31, 2017, Frankfurt School of Finance & Management held the official opening ceremony for new Master of Finance and Master in Management students. Professor Dr Udo Steffens, President of Frankfurt School, welcomed the 270 first-year students – half of whom come from abroad – to the new campus. “By choosing Frankfurt School for your Master’s degree, you have opted to study at Germany’s leading business school. In addition to our close connections with the City of Frankfurt, a key business and research hub, we set great store by our global network. We need this internationalism to forge a successful future – which is why we are especially delighted to be able to welcome so many international students here today,” said Professor Steffens. In his address, he also highlighted recent achievements, such as Frankfurt School’s reaccreditation with the internationally respected EQUIS seal of quality.

Alexander Doll, CEO of Barclays Germany and Frankfurt School alumnus, then took the podium. In his address, he gave the students a brief rundown of his own career, along with valuable tips for making the most of their time at Frankfurt School. He also emphasised the value of the international experience that can be gained by studying at the business school. “But at the back of your mind, just be aware of the growing prominence of the City of Frankfurt as one of the world’s leading financial and economic centres. By opting to study here, you made a good decision,” he concluded.

Dr Heike Brost, Head of Degree Programmes & Executive Education at Frankfurt School, welcomed the students to the informal part of the evening, explaining that the many – sometimes far-fetched – ideas and enormous energy of the business school’s student body represent one of the highlights of her job. She added that Frankfurt School is not just somewhere to acquire knowledge, it is also a great place to try out one’s own ideas and get involved in various community activities. She welcomed the students to the Frankfurt School community, after which the guests retired to the new terrace to celebrate the start of their Master programmes.
