On Thursday, October 6, 2016, Frankfurt School of Finance & Management welcomed 152 new MBA students to its campus. Students of the full-time and part-time Frankfurt MBA, the Executive MBA (EMBA) as well as the MBA in International Healthcare Management (IHM) gathered in the Audimax. Before the ceremony each programme had organised an orientation day with introductions by the Programme Directors Professor Dr Horst Löchel (Frankfurt MBA), Dr Markus Mädler (EMBA) and Tanja Ward (IHM).
At the official opening ceremony, Professor Dr Dr h.c. Rolf Cremer, Academic Director MBA Programmes and Honorary Professor at Frankfurt School, greeted the students and welcomed them to the beginning of a journey. “You are the future leaders of society”, he told them and emphasised that this status was closely linked to the concept of responsibility. “People like you will lead. The question is only how well.”
Anna Schweisfurth, Alumni Officer at Frankfurt School, then introduced the keynote speaker Christian Kirschner, Managing Director at DuMont Controlling Services GmbH, DuMont Media Group, and Frankfurt School alumnus. The theme of his talk was the German saying “He who does not move with the times, will be removed over time”. This, he pointed out, was not only true for institutions like Frankfurt School, which had developed rapidly in the twenty years since he started studying. It was also true for individuals like the students sitting in front of him today. He invited them to drive the change themselves and use their time as students wisely and profit from the many opportunities a business school like Frankfurt School had to offer.
After the ceremony, students, staff and professors met for an informal barbecue to get to know each other and to wind down after a day full of new information and experiences.
