The Frankfurt School – UNEP Collaborating Centre for Climate & Sustainable Energy Finance is a strategic cooperation between Frankfurt School of Finance & Management (FS) and the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP). We are committed to facilitating public and private sector capital flow towards sustainable investments for climate change mitigation and adaptation. The Green Climate Fund (GCF) is one of our major fields of intervention on the global level to support sustainable finance for climate transformation.

For our growing international sustainable finance portfolio and our GCF tasks, in particular, we are looking for a Project Manager (f/m/x) with a strong technical expertise on sustainable climate finance and capacity development in international cooperation.

The position is initially limited for 24 months.

Your Tasks
  • Elaboration of climate mitigation and adaption related policy papers, strategies, analytical reports and comments for policy advisory on the ministerial respective global level, especially regarding the GCF.
  • Coordination and management of expert inputs mainly inhouse.
  • Comprehensive (support to) project management including reporting, responsibility for and control of budgets, coordination of external experts
  • Supporting Senior Project Managers in development of new consulting and training concepts and products, including support in designing new project ideas and business models
  • Continuous observation of the market, especially of competitors, donor organisations, international networks, etc.
  • Relationship Management: Attending of and correspondence with local, national, and international alliance partners and clients
  • Cross-selling activities within Frankfurt School
  • Acquisition of new projects including compiling expressions of interest, technical and financial offers including technical project design and budgeting, implementation and supervision of international consultants
  • University degree preferably at Master’s’ level, in Economics, Finance and Banking, Business Administration or related field or equivalent professional experience
  • A minimum of 5 years of progressive work experience in project management and implementation on a policy level in an international setting
  • Technical expertise and work experience (at least 5 years) in sustainable climate finance ideally linked to global public funds (such as the GCF)
  • In-depth international consulting experience
  • Excellent analytical and strategic planning skills
  • Local experiences of capacity development in the context of international development cooperation
  • Knowledge of current international sustainable finance developments
  • Strong capacity for teamwork, but also ability to work independently
  • Strong communication skills within and outside the team, commitment, sociability, flexibility, intercultural sensitivity
  • Fluent in English (working language); German language skills would be an asset.
