Summer Schools at FS

In July 2020 Frankfurt School will offer two summer schools “The Finance Boot Camp”, which has been running for more than six years and a brand new summer school “The Management Boot Camp”.

Students can choose between two different topics

1. "Finance & banking in a nutshell” or
2. ”Strategic improvement”

Both tracks take place at the same time, and social group activities will be organized together for all students. Moreover, as the name Boot Camp portrays we will offer some sportive activities in the morning and/ or evening hours. Students will also have access to the on-sight campus gym.

Perhaps you did not choose to study Finance at university, but now you are curious to find out more about the major financial products and investment strategies. You want a better understanding of the news or dream about becoming the next George Soros. Maybe you will be a new student next fall and want to get a jump start on your studies. Either way, The Finance Boot Camp with the Banking Game will be a fun addition to your summer. The ProBanker online game simulates a competitive banking environment where managers acquire deposits and long-term capital and distribute them in the form of loans and investments. An engaging and interactive experience paired with insightful lectures on finance & banking in a nutshell and site visits to financial institutions.

Covering different topics in strategy, leadership, and management; The Management Boot Camp gives students the unique opportunity to hone-in their skills in a dynamic and interactive classroom setting. Apart from lectures, students have the opportunity to try their hand in the beer distribution game, an interactive learning simulation designed to reinforce the fundamentals of supply chain management invented by the famous Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). This is a type of gamification that is used to experience typical coordination problems of a supply chain process. It reflects a role-play simulation where several participants play with each other. Paired with the game, students get the opportunity to visit a beer brewery in the region to learn more about the real-life processes and challenges in supply chain management.

Target Audience

Frankfurt School’s Finance Boot Camp and Management Boot Camp targets Bachelor and first year Master students seeking to develop or deepen their skills in finance or management in one of Europe’s leading financial and business centers: Frankfurt am Main.

Site Visits

The curriculum will also consist of site visits to e.g. the German Stock Exchange, European Central Bank or a SME company.

Hours

The programme includes 20-25 hours of pre-reading and two daily hours of self-study.

5 ECTS (7,5 ECTS possible through additional assignment)

Price & Discounts

Price: EUR 3,400 (price includes all corporate and cultural excursions, local accommodation, transport lunches at FS canteen, and two dinners. Flights and other meals are not included.)

FUNDING OPPORTUNITIES

Also for 2020 Frankfurt School is excited to offer DAAD-funding opportunities* for summer school students.

POTENTIAL FUNDING POSSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

1. Travel costs:
   International students can receive a travel grant. The final award amount will depend on the country (range 200€-1,550€)
    
2. Accommodation costs:
   International students can receive a subsidy for their stay in Frankfurt during the summer school, in total up to 500€ reduction of the overall course fee.

HOW TO APPLY/CRITERIA:

Students who wish to apply for one of the summer schools can do so by filling in the registration form found on our website. In addition to the online registration form, the following criteria have to be met:

• Eligible student status (Bachelor or Master or MBA)
• Average academic performance of 80% or the equivalent GPA
• Submission of the student´s transcripts of records
• Submission of a short motivation letter on why the student wishes to attend The Finance Boot Camp or The Management Boot Camp
