Frankfurt School of Finance & Management held its first Master of Finance Alumni Leadership Workshop from October 12 to 16, 2016, with the support of the DAAD (Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst) and the Federal Foreign Office (Auswärtiges Amt). The global alumni network was invited back to the FS campus for a four day multi-faceted programme exploring all aspects of leadership through workshops, lectures and practical exercises.
More than forty alumni from four continents enjoyed networking, making new contacts and also having the pleasure of catching up with old faces. Dr Julia Knobbe, Master of Finance Programme Director, said: “It was great to see new bridges being built over the course of the Alumni Leadership programme.” Different leadership topics, including “Conflict Management”, “Getting Commitment across Hierarchies” and “Rhetoric and Presentation Skills”, were explored in workshops, allowing time for reflection on the past and preparation for the future. The FS alumni also participated in outdoor physical leadership exercises, on the banks of the Main.
Menglu Zhuang, Master of Finance Class of 2014 said: “The leadership lectures and outdoor exercises perfectly complemented each other when it came to putting theory into practice. It was both lots of work and lots of fun.”
The Master of Finance alumni took a trip to the new state-of-the-art campus and although they won’t be studying there themselves, they were extremely excited by the virtual reality campus tour. The workshop ended with a fun and exciting cooking academy, where alumni were able to relax, network and socialise with one another before heading back to their respective global locations.
“Leadership skills become more and more important especially after some years of work experience. I think Frankfurt School is going in the right direction, and I am looking forward to support the future path as an alumnus”, explained Sebastian Lutz, Master of Finance Class of 2013.
