Frankfurt am Main, 22.09.2016 12:00:00

On Tuesday, September 13, 2016, Frankfurt School alumni and the current International Healthcare Management MBA (IHM MBA) students gathered at Lantern Bar at Fullerton Bay Hotel in Singapore. Dr Heike Brost, Head of Degree Programmes & Executive Education and member of the Executive board, Dr Elisa Antz, Head of Student, Career & Alumni Services as well as Professor Dr Rainer Sibbel, Professor of International Health Management and Academic Director of the IHM MBA and Ute Gottschalk, study advisor of the IHM MBA programme, represented Frankfurt School of Finance & Management and shared the latest developments and news from the alma mater.

About twenty Frankfurt School alumni took the occasion to meet fellow alumni living and working in the Asian city state. Some of them, like Dennis Schmelzer, Head of Risk & Regulatory Reporting at LBBW Singapore, had already attended the first Alumni meeting in Singapore two years ago. However, he admitted to liking the second edition even better, “because the location is perfect and we are even more alumni this time.”

Everybody agreed that the rooftop bar across from the famous Marina Bay Sands Hotel added to the informal networking atmosphere. Daniel van Treeck, Vice President Strategy at Daimler South East Asia Pte. Ltd, who had recommended and helped to book the location, was also positively surprised about the turnout: “I didn’t expect to meet so many fellow alumni here. I even talked to someone else working in the automotive industry.” He also pointed out another key benefit of the night, the opportunity to talk to the current IHM MBA students, which introduced a whole new set of industries, profiles and perspectives.

Topics of the evening included life and work abroad as well news about what’s going on at home. The alumni, who had gotten their degree ten years or longer ago, were impressed by the recent growth of Frankfurt School, most notably the new campus, which they checked out online.

Matthias Wollscheid just came to Singapore seven weeks ago to continue working for Allianz Real Estate in Asia Pacific. For him, the alumni event was the “perfect occasion to meet new and like-minded people in the city, who share similar experiences from Frankfurt School and Singapore at the same time.”

Previous to the alumni event in Singapore, Dr Heike Brost and Dr Elisa Antz had already been meeting Frankfurt School alumni in Hong Kong, e.g. Oliver Brinkmann, who was recently announced as Lloyds’ chief executive officer of Lloyds’ Asian commercial banking division in Singapore, who fed the Frankfurt School perspective with inspiring insights. The FS alumni team wants to ensure that the FS alumni spirit in Asia flourishes and grows.
