Frankfurt School of Finance & Management’s Alumni Services invited FS Alumni Speakers and committed FS students to a special intercultural workshop on campus on December 6, 2017, to honour their commitment.
When living, working or studying in an international environment, communication plays a crucial role as certain standards and habits are just different to the ones from one’s own culture. Typically, communication has two components: the verbal and the non-verbal. In the workshop session, Dr Julia Knobbe, Programme Director of the Master of Finance at Frankfurt School, invited participants to experiment with these two communication levels in an intercultural context. Invited to perform different games in rotating groups, participants were challenged to question their understanding of certain situations and to see if they realised, what was going on. Mulled wine and traditional German Christmas cookies further added to the evening as the diverse group of alumni and students talked about the different Christmas traditions in their home countries such as Croatia, France, Germany, India and Italy.
