On January 29, 2019, Frankfurt School of Finance & Management opened its AI Lab together with partners and friends. With the new Lab, Frankfurt School creates a central space for Artificial Intelligence and Digital Transformation. These are topics that spell major changes for society and businesses and therefore are of great significance for Frankfurt School. The AI Lab is part of the business school’s AI Initiative, together with the Master in Applied Data Science (MADS), the Centre for Human and Machine Intelligence (HMI) and the Executive Education programmes covering AI.

“The AI Initiative encompasses a range of different activities, all crafted to address the changes AI is bringing. The AI Lab embodies Frankfurt School's commitment to the topics of AI and Data Science and is a devoted space for students and professors to learn, research, experiment, and create. Frankfurt School has created a home for projects and topics in the areas of Artificial Intelligence, Deep Learning, image recognition and natural language processing”, explains Joanna Karajanov, Chief Information Officer of Frankfurt School.

At the AI lab, new learning concepts are developed, tested and integrated into the curriculum.The AI lab offers resources needed for internal digitalisation projects, as well as for external technology events.There is room for creativity and experiments, including new formats and workflows.Possibilities in the field of digitalisation and new business cases can be developed and fostered.Through collaboration with partners from the regional tech community and the local economy, the AI lab offers numerous possibilities in the fields of teaching, research and knowledge transfer.

 

The basic idea of any laboratory is to question the status quo and push knowledge forward, for which a high degree of flexibility is necessary. With the FS AI Lab, we have pushed barriers and created an incredibly versatile canvas to accommodate any kind of research around AI”, says Vahe Andonians, AI Lab Knowledge Lead at Frankfurt School.

Technical Data

The 260 m² AI Lab is equipped with the latest generation of GPUs, enabling rapid processing. Additional TensorFlow processors can be rented as needed. Touch screens, white boards and additional routers allow for flawless presentations and group projects.
