In many parts of the world women endure physical or sexual violence as part of their everyday experience. The United Nations General Assembly designated 25 November as International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women to draw attention to abuse through worldwide campaigns.
In Frankfurt, the campaign was supported by Zonta Clubs, a worldwide women's network, and Frauenreferat, a women’s advocacy service.
Frankfurt School also took part; between 5 and 9 p.m., the Präsidialbau was illuminated in orange. On 25 November, in addition to Frankfurt School, Paulskirche, Alte Oper and the Filmmuseum were also cast in orange.
