Master in Financial Management Learning Goals

The curriculum of our Master in Financial Management programme is designed to support our students' development into finance and make careers as consultants, managers and financial controllers.
Quantitative Fundamentals
This module covers fundamental mathematics, statistics, and probability for economics. It equips students with mathematical tools to analyze economic and financial problems and applies them to real-world examples. It introduces mathematical basics, sequences, series, finance math, and calculus. The statistics part includes descriptive statistics, probability theory, and inferential statistics for economic problem-solving. It fosters quantitative skills in students and integrates with other modules in the semester, setting a strong foundation for subsequent coursework.
Economics of Business
This course introduces students with no previous background in economics to the fundamental principles that guide economic and managerial decision making. The course is split in two parts: in the first part, students are introduced to key microeconomic principles such as opportunity cost, the law of demand and supply, and firms’ decision making at the margin. The second part of the course introduces students to the analysis of the macroeconomic environment and policy making to manage economic fluctuations.
Money, Banking & Finance
This course provides students with an understanding of various financial aspects, including Money, Banking, and Finance. In the Money section, they explore money's functions, inflation, and monetary policy, focusing on central banks like ECB and U.S. Fed. Banking delves into how banks work, their risks, and government regulation. Finance covers financial decision-making, NPV formula, arbitrage, market efficiency, and multifactor models. Students gain insights into the financial system's strengths, principles in money and finance, financial intermediaries, and portfolio management, ultimately preparing them to analyze and navigate the evolving financial landscape.
Financial Statement Analysis
This module introduces students to accruals accounting, emphasizing accounting quality, key financial indicators, and profitability analysis. It covers ESG reporting, accounting for intangible assets, and M&A transactions, as well as credit risk analysis and data analytics. Students gain essential skills for financial analysis, making informed decisions, and understanding contemporary accounting practices.

The Master in Financial Management program offers a distinctive approach known as the "3 Day Model", allowing students to balance part-time work with full-time studies. From the outset, students engage in classes three days a week—Mondays, Tuesdays, and Saturdays—providing ample opportunity for self-study, language courses, or part-time employment during the remaining weekdays. Additionally, some lectures or excursions are organised as blocked week events.
The Entrepreneurship Center aims to inspire, foster connections, and offer training opportunities to Frankfurt School students, along with external stakeholders like investors, alumni, founders, and partners. Options include participation in our Incubator for continuous support or accelerating projects through our Accelerator program. Additionally, students can opt for the Entrepreneurship elective in collaboration with TechQuartier during the fourth semester, enhancing their specialization with a double focus.
In the fourth semester, students have the opportunity to choose two elective courses, allowing them to enrich their master's program and delve into specialized areas of interest. From ESG Investing to AI, also Fintech IE Business School Module in Madrid, these electives align with students' professional aspirations and broaden their knowledge beyond the core curriculum.

Successful applicants will be invited to an Assessment Centre and Frankfurt School Admission Test, if applicable. The interview will be held over a video call for all applicants. The purpose of the interview is to gain a better understanding of your character, personality, expectations, motivations and goals.
The final decision regarding your Master in Financial Management admission will be based on a combination of undergraduate grades, English language abilities, admission test results and interview performance.
We also take into account other significant experiences, commitments or awards such as internships, international experiences and volunteer projects.
The Master in Financial Management programme begins on 26 August 2024. All students are expected to be at Frankfurt School on this day. For non-EU applicants who require a visa to enter Germany, please bear in mind that it can take up to two or three months to obtain the necessary visa.
