Personal Details

Since January 2018, Karol Kempa is a post-doctoral researcher at the Frankfurt School of Finance & Management as part of the Robert Bosch Foundation’s research project on the design of climate and energy policy instruments in emerging and developing countries. He has been a member of the research group at the FS-UNEP Collaborating Centre for Climate and Sustainable Energy Finance since October 2011.
Karol Kempa holds a PhD in economics from the Justus-Liebig University Giessen, specializing in energy- and sports economics, where he also taught in the master and bachelor programmes from 2013 to 2017. He holds a Diploma degree in economics (Justus-Liebig University Giessen) and a master’s degree in economics (University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee).
His main research areas are environmental and energy economics, focusing in particular on the role of technological progress, financial markets, and policy instruments for climate-relevant investment. He is also interested in sports economics.
