Personal Details

Before joining the Frankfurt School of Finance and Management as Professor of Banking and Finance in 2012, Michael Koetter held the chair of International Financial and Monetary Economics at the University of Groningen. He obtained his PhD in economics from Utrecht University and his MSc in international economics from the University of Maastricht. Michael Koetter also worked as a consultant at the Boston Consulting Group and as a researcher at Deutsche Bundesbank. His current main research interest is empirical banking, covering topics such as moral hazard, systemic risk, and international banking. Michael Koetter’s research has been funded by the Netherlands Organization of Scientific Research (NWO) with a so-called Veni grant and appeared in both general interest and field journals, such as The Review of Economics and Statistics, The Review of Financial Studies, and others.
