This project aimed to refine Dar-Es-Salaam Community Bank's (DCB）SME banking model through the following:
- Realigned organisational structures, systems, processes and procedures and enhanced staff capacities to deliver financial products and services targeting MSMEs.
- Knowledge sharing with other financial institutions (FIs) to adopt the best practice SME banking model and drive the delivery of financial products and services to MSMEs.
- Undertook automation of credit processing, installation of a statistical credit scoring model and relationship management systems (total loan management systems).
By refining the organisational structure for MSME delivery, the project has contributed to SDG 9 on industry, innovation and infrastructure as a result of improving the efficiency, customer service and risk management in the bank.
It has also led to increased staff capacities on SME banking and contributed market research of SME clients. Three credit products were introduced to DCB, with one credit product being implemented by the organisation. Lastly, a credit scoring and automated workflow management system developed, tested and refined to DCB’s satisfaction.
