Project Overview

The Project aimed at helping REGMIFA Partner Financial Institutions (PFIs) strengthen and retain middle management staff through tailored capacity building activities on soft skills in order to ensure adequate management and oversight responsibilities. To achieve this outcome, the training and mentoring activities were customised and carried out in coordination with the human resource department of the respective PFIs.

Frankfurt School (FS) implemented the Project for 38 PFIs across 15 countries and two rounds: a first round of 28 PFIs and a second round of 10 PFIs.

  • The activites included: (i) Institutional diagnostic and training needs assessment (TNA); (ii) Developing & implementing a capacity building programme: development of training plan and training materials, selection and training of internal trainers, delivery of trainings, evaluation and impact assessment of trainings and intensive monitoring and coaching; and, (iii) Post-capacity building activities: evaluation and feedback through a joint review with HR to assess the progress of the middle managers’ skills.
  • FS experts conducted a training of trainers, as well as trainings on managerial skills topics such as personal management & managing others, leadership vs. management, effective management, team and people management, problem solving, motivating employees, effective communication etc. Areas such as customer relationship management (CRM) and sales were also occasionally covered.
  • Each of the 38 PFIs benefitted from 15-18 training days with a total of 2,200 participants.
