Project Overview

The EBRD Trade Ready Programme (Trade Ready) aims to promote inter-regional and international trade by assisting small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) access trade finance and know-how to grow their businesses. As a new online tool, Trade Passport is important to help SMEs examine their business readiness towards international trade, which has first been rolled out in Georgia and Serbia.

Frankfurt School experts have developed an online tool, Trade Passport, that identifies a company’s strengths and weaknesses related to international trade readiness. The tool supports the planning of remedial actions or the strategic planning process to prepare SMEs for internationalisation. From the perspective of the end user, the tool offers a free self-assessment solution, while also providing extensive and dynamic data on SMEs’ international trade readiness to relevant stakeholders. Through a detailed questionnaire, Trade Passport provides scores in four key areas: sources of business finance, international trade contracting, use of international trade financial instruments and managing import and export risks.

Specifically, Frankfurt School experts developed the online solution to host Trade Passport in three languages (English, Georgian and Serbian) and undertook the local adaptation for the Georgian and Serbian country pages of the website under Trade Ready. This also included country and local content for the website and Trade Passport, including analysis, technical designs, infrastructure, back-end development, front-end development, technical assistance, functional testing, user acceptance test support, defect fixing, preparation and adaptations of the translation set, and deployments of eventual future upgrades.

Finally, Frankfurt School assistance also included the provision of maintenance and continuity of service, including managing the external server provision and liaising with server providers, the provision of the administration functionality for EBRD and other identified users, including ability to manage participant information, and access to key statistics on Trade Passport users, etc.
