Mujaheed Shaikh, doctoral candidate in Health Economics at Frankfurt School of Finance & Management, has won the prize for the best paper presented by a student at the 14th Portuguese National Conference on Health Economics. The paper called “Your Retirement and My Health Behaviour: Evidence on Retirement Externalities from a Fuzzy Regression Discontinuity Design” is joint work with Tobias Mueller from the University of Lucerne. The paper presents evidence on intra-household retirement externalities by assessing the causal effect of partner's retirement on an individual's health and health behaviour. The prize for the best paper is sponsored by Pfizer.
The 14th Portuguese National Conference on Health Economics was organised by the Portuguese Association for Health Economists on October 15 and 16, 2015, in Lisbon, Portugal. The conference is an opportunity to disseminate, review and debate major developments in research and policy. It brings the work of researchers to a wide audience of health providers, managers and decision makers.
