Professor Dr. Jörn-Henrik Thun hat seit September 2010 die Professur für Operations Strategy an der Frankfurt School inne.
Jahrgang 1973. Abitur 1992 an der Liebfrauenschule in Oldenburg. Nach dem Wehrdienst 1993–1998 Studium der Betriebswirtschaftslehre an der Universität Mannheim. 1998–2003 wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter am Industrieseminar der Universität Mannheim. 1999 Forschungsaufenthalt am College of Business Administration, Creighton University, Omaha, Nebraska/USA. 2002 Promotion zum Dr. rer. pol. durch die Fakultät für Betriebswirtschaftslehre der Universität Mannheim. 2003–2009 wissenschaftlicher Assistent am Industrieseminar der Universität Mannheim. 2008 Forschungsaufenthalt an der University of the West of Scotland, Paisley, UK. 2009 Habilitation an der Universität Mannheim (venia legendi für Betriebswirtschaftslehre). 2010 Vertretungsprofessur für Betriebswirtschaftslehre an der Universität Hamburg.
Themenbereiche in der Lehre sind Operations Management, Supply Chain Management und Entscheidungstheorie. Prof. Dr. Thun forscht u.a. zu den Themen High Performance Manufacturing, Operations Strategy und Supply Chain Management und ist Leiter der deutschen Gruppen der internationalen Forschungsprojekte „International Manufacturing Strategy Survey“ und „High Performance Manufacturing“. Er wurde 2003 mit dem Förderpreis der Prechel-Stiftung sowie 2008 mit dem Horst-Wildemann-Preis für innovative Managementkonzepte ausgezeichnet und hat u.a. in den internationalen Fachzeitschriften Production and Operations Management, International Journal of Production Research, International Journal of Production Economics, Journal of Supply Chain Management, System Dynamics Review etc. publiziert. 2011 wurde ihm von den Studierenden der Frankfurt School der "Professor of Excellence"-Lehrpreis verliehen. Im vom Handelsblatt 2012 durchgeführten Ranking deutscher BWL-Professoren belegt er den 45. Platz in der Kategorie „Forscher unter 40 Jahren“ und den 96. Platz in der Kategorie „Top 100 Forscher aktuell".
