Professor of Economics (Education)
Marcus Giamattei is Professor of Economics (Education) at the Frankfurt School of Finance & Management. Previously, he was a Professor of Macroeconomics at Bard College Berlin. From 2015-2019, he was an Assistant Professor at the University of Passau, where he is still an External Fellow. He is also a member of CeDEx at the University of Nottingham. He received his PhD and Habilitation in Economics from the University of Passau. His research has appeared in the Journal of Money, Credit and Banking, Experimental Economics, Journal of Economic Dynamics and Control, Plos One, Journal of Behavioral Decision Making, and the Journal of Behavioral and Experimental Finance.
His research interests are macroeconomics as well as experimental and behavioural economics. His research focuses on bounded rationality as a central driver of macroeconomic behaviour. His second area of research focuses on the role of cooperation, ethics, and corruption. He developed classEx, a tool for interactive experiments in the lecture hall and in the field with mobile devices, and LIONESS Lab, a tool for online experiments. Both tools allow instructors and researchers to use experiments outside the lab and for teaching. classEx and LIONESS are used in over 70 countries around the world.
