Professor of Practice in Strategic Finance
Eric Fellhauer is a Professor of Practice specializing in Strategic Finance. He previously spent 30 years in investment banking and private equity, most recently at Goldman Sachs in Frankfurt, and prior to that as the long-term head of the investment bank Lazard in Germany. He is an expert in advising on M&A deals, having worked on major corporate transactions within the German industry throughout his career, advising renowned clients such as Daimler, Siemens, BASF, Audi, the German government (in the case of Opel), the Viessmann family, and numerous private equity funds.
For years, Eric Fellhauer has taught practical courses on investment banking and M&A at various German universities. He has transformed key projects from his professional experience into case studies for the course "Strategic Finance and Technology Change," which he has been teaching since 2019 at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) and at the FS.
His research focuses on strategy and finance in the context of fundamental technological change. Many of his contributions have been published in compilations and journals. In recent years, his focus, both in practical and academic activities, has been on German family businesses and their approach to managing technological transformation, particularly the electrification of various industry segments.
Mr. Fellhauer holds a diploma in industrial engineering from KIT, where he also obtained his doctorate on the topic of "Liberalism and Distributive Justice." He later pursued further education at Harvard Business School through an Advanced Management Program.
