Senior Lecturer in Financial Mathematics
Dr. María de la O Hervás Zurita is a Senior Lecturer in Financial Mathematics at the Frankfurt School of Finance & Management. Her main areas of interest are quantitative methods, banking, and finance.
She attended the Catholic school Colegio Niña María in Guadalajara, Spain, and obtained her high school diploma from the University of Alcalá de Henares (Madrid, Spain) in June 1992. From 1992 to 1997, she studied Business Administration and Economics at CEU San Pablo University in Madrid, Spain. She then continued her education for two more years in Frankfurt am Main at the former Hochschule für Bankwirtschaft (now Frankfurt School of Finance & Management gGmbH), earning the academic degree Diplom-Betriebswirtin (FH) in 1999.
In 2006, she earned her doctorate at CEU San Pablo University in Madrid, Spain, with academic support from the former Hochschule für Bankwirtschaft, and was rewarded additionally with the title of Doctor Europeus.
From 1998 to 2024, she held various Senior Analyst and Senior Business Analyst positions at a German universal bank in Frankfurt am Main, specializing in Product Controlling (Foreign Exchange and Fixed Income), Market and Liquidity Risk, Asset and Liability Management, and Liquidity Risk Projects.
At Frankfurt School of Finance & Management, she teaches Mathematics, Stochastics, and Financial Markets. Additionally, she coordinates the Financial Markets Specialization module within the Bachelor of Arts program.
