Frankfurt School of Finance & Management is one of Europe’s leading business schools, recognised internationally for its rigorous and impactful research. We are committed to attracting the most talented doctoral students in Accounting, Economics, Finance and Management by offering a dynamic and intellectually stimulating academic environment.
The Doctoral Programme aims to develop strong analytical skills, teach students how to publish in top journals and enable them to build a strong global academic network. The first two years can also count toward the Master of Business Research and Analytics M.Sc. (MBRA), which is ideal if you don’t yet hold a master’s degree. This fully funded programme includes advanced courses, close faculty support, and a vibrant research environment in one of Europe’s leading business schools.

Programme-Structure
The first two years of the programme consist of three types of courses, required for all students: core courses, concentration courses and electives.
- Core courses - focus on analytical and methodological training across a broad spectrum of research techniques.
- Concentration courses - provide deep specialisation in the student’s chosen field – Accounting, Economics, Finance or Management – and form the basis for their future research.
- Electives - allow students to further develop expertise in their area of interest and may be taken at partner institutions worldwide

Learning Goals
Graduates demonstrate a systematic understanding of their research discipline and mastery of the skills and methods of research associated with that field. They have a deep command of the relevant literature.
Graduates identify research questions at the frontier of scientific knowledge. They autonomously design and perform substantial research projects with scientific integrity.
Graduates are effective communicators in their research field. They convey their knowledge effectively to academic audiences, while also making it accessible to students and non-specialists.
Graduates are trained to be placed on the international academic job market. Graduates understand the principles of good academic conduct and are able to reflect on ethical issues in science based on commonly accepted standards of good academic conduct. Graduates are trained to engage in independent research and to apply a critical and analytical approach to complex problems.
Financing & Scholarships
Frankfurt School offers monthly financial support of up to EUR 2,320 tax-exempt from the first year onwards and a generous budget for travel and research expenditures. Students must devote 100 % of their working time to their doctoral studies for up to five years.

Our faculty members closely mentor students throughout the programme, fostering a supportive and intellectually vibrant environment. Frankfurt School’s faculty includes experienced researchers in Accounting, Finance, Management and Economics. Professors offer close mentorship, guide impactful research and help you develop strong academic careers in a globally respected research environment.
