Admission Requirements

To apply for the Master in Financial Technology programme, applicants must meet certain academic requirements. An application fee of €100 applies.
Please note: The Frankfurt School Admission Test (BT Methods) can only be taken once.

  1. First academic degree (Bachelor) of at least 180 ECTS credits
  2. Excellent written and spoken English (TOEFL 90 iBT, IELTS 7.0 or equivalent)
  3. Valid GMAT/GRE score or Frankfurt School Admission Test (BT Methods)
  4. Successful admissions interview

The FSBC is a think tank and research centre investigating the implications of blockchain technology and learning more about central bank digital currencies, tokenisation of assets, decentralised finance (DeFi) and the foundations of financial infrastructure. Our programme is designed for innovative minds who not only seek to understand the digital transformation of the financial sector but also to actively drive it forward.
The curriculum combines technological expertise with strategic thinking – preparing you to succeed in any FinTech environment, whether in banking, consulting, start-ups or global technology companies.
You will gain in-depth knowledge in areas such as machine learning, blockchain and digital platforms, while developing the technical and analytical skills needed to confidently tackle the complex challenges of tomorrow’s financial world.

CONCENTRATIONS

This concentration focuses on teaching students how to identify, analyse, and manage financial risks. This concentration might cover various risk types, including market, credit, operational and liquidity risks, using quantitative methods, financial theory and regulatory frameworks to prepare students for managing risks in financial institutions and corporations. This specific concentration is supported by the Frankfurt Institute for Risk Management and Regulation (FIRM) which supports our students with a number of generous scholarships.

This concentration equips students with the expertise to integrate sustainability into financial analysis and decision-making processes. Participants will develop leadership skills essential for driving a successful sustainability transition within their financial institutions and beyond. The curriculum addresses real-world challenges currently faced by financial institutions in implementing sustainable finance strategies. Additionally, all students enrolled in the Sustainable Finance concentration are eligible to apply for the CHOM CAPITAL Sustainable Impact Diversity Scholarship, which cover up to 25% of tuition fees.

The Central Banking and Financial Regulation concentration educates students on the activities of central banks and their critical role in the global financial system. The concentration provides students with an in-depth understanding of monetary policy, financial stability, banking supervision and modern payment systems. It equips students with the analytical and quantitative skills essential for a successful career in central banks, regulatory institutions and the broader public and private financial sector. In view of this, Frankfurt School’s extensive network in one of Europe’s largest financial centres and the only city worldwide hosting two central banks, offers unique advantages.

Learning Goals

Graduates will acquire an in-depth knowledge and critical understanding of cutting-edge financial technologies and the evolving digital economy. They will gain comprehensive knowledge of foundational finance principles, data-driven innovation, regulatory frameworks, and emerging digital business models. This will equip them with the ability to analyse, structure, and evaluate complex financial technology challenges in a global context.

Graduates will apply state-of-the-art financial technologies, data-driven methods, and rigorous analytical techniques to address multifaceted challenges in the digital finance ecosystem. They will leverage scientific and quantitative approaches, as well as machine learning and computational models, to design innovative solutions that support strategic decision-making and foster sustainable growth in a changing financial system.

Graduates will be effective and persuasive communicators in the interdisciplinary setting of financial technology, articulating complex concepts clearly and credibly. They will act as responsible team members, collaborating with diverse stakeholders—from financial experts and data scientists to entrepreneurs and regulators—to achieve common objectives. Graduates will also recognise and address conflict potentials in team settings, reflecting on them to foster constructive outcomes and sustainable, innovation-driven solutions.

Graduates will cultivate a professional identity centered on ethical integrity, cultural awareness, and social responsibility within the global financial technology environment. They will recognize the impact of their decisions, products, and services on individuals, institutions, and society at large. Financing and Scholarships

Frankfurt School offers all students of the Master in Financial Technology merit-based and need-based scholarships, study loans and payment plans. Additionally, eligible applicants may apply for the CHOM Capital Sustainable Finance Scholarship, the FIRM Scholarship (Frankfurt Institute for Risk Management and Regulation) or the Deutsche Bank - Technology, Data & Innovation Diversity Scholarship. Female applicants may also apply for the Women Diversity Scholarship offered by the WM Group (Börsen-Zeitung).
