WM Gruppe Professor of Financial Technology (Education or Practice track)

This position is generously funded by WM Gruppe, a leading provider of financial information, to make a lasting contribution to developing the next generation of leaders in the era of digital transformation in banking and financial services.

Role Tracks & Specific Expectations

For this position, we are looking for professorial candidates in the education or the practice tracks offered at Frankfurt School:

  • Education Track: Requires a demonstrated commitment to teaching excellence, programme development, and leadership in financial technology education. Responsibilities include developing and delivering courses in financial technology and adjacent areas across degree, professional, and executive programmes, the development of new teaching materials, and other areas. 
  • Practice Track: Requires significant industry experience. Responsibilities focus on developing and nurturing strong industry and corporate connections, conducting applied research on financial technology and related fields, in addition to teaching specialised courses in this area.

General Responsibilities

Irrespective of the chosen track, the successful candidate will:

  • Contribute to research, teaching, and programme development in financial technology.
  • Drive industry interactions and the overall development of Frankfurt School and its departments.
  • Provide thought leadership to corporate partners, alumni, and through media relations.
  • Enhance the student experience, helping to position Frankfurt School as an entrepreneurial hub for technology and technology management.
  • Perform services for the School (e.g., participation in relevant committees, etc.).
  • Exhibit sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, social, economic, cultural, international, and ethnic backgrounds of our students.

Your Profile

  • Ph.D. or equivalent academic qualification in finance, economics, computer science, management, or a closely related discipline.
  • Solid technical expertise, preferably in machine learning, artificial intelligence, distributed ledgers, payments, and digital finance and digital platforms.
  • Close relationships with the industry to draw upon for research and teaching.
  • Experience cooperating with universities and scientific institutions.
  • Outstanding English communication skills.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Strong research background.
  • Experience in executive education in the area of financial technology.
  • Sound understanding of the financial services industry.
  • Relevant industry experience and an entrepreneurial mindset.
  • German language skills are a strong asset.
