External lecturer for the Foundation Year module “Ethics, Science and Society”

We are seeking a qualified and highly motivated external lecturer (freelance basis) to teach the module “Ethics, Science and Society” (summer semester 2027) in the Foundation Year at Frankfurt School of Finance & Management.

The two-semester Foundation Year taught entirely in English caters to students who would like to get a solid foundation before moving on to undergraduate studies in business, management or economics. It prepares students academically for the rigour of undergraduate studies at Frankfurt School of Finance and Management. 

Brief description of the module:

“Ethics, Science and Society” is a concentration module chosen by students with a particular interest in philosophy. The module introduces a variety of philosophical topics that thematically intersect with ethics, science and society, and examines how these areas interact through a philosophical analysis. The module’s main objective is to demonstrate how philosophy can provide insightful and in-depth analyses of everyday phenomena, helping the students to problematize and appreciate the complexity of debates and issues they encounter at both an individual and a societal level.

Your responsibilities:

• Develop and teach a pre-university level course that acquaints students with practical philosophical thinking
• Create engaging and interactive lesson plans and assessments
• Ensure that course materials and instruction align with departmental goals and objectives
• Provide individualized attention and support to students to help them achieve their learning goals

Your qualifications:

• Master's degree or higher in Philosophy or a related field
• Strong background in Practical Philosophy
• Experience teaching the subject to young adults
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Strong commitment to student success and academic excellence
• Ability to work effectively as part of a structured educational programme

Location: 

• Campus Frankfurt am Main
• The Foundation Year is taught fully on campus. 
• Please note that Frankfurt School cannot offer any relocation allowance nor cover accommodation costs for this position.

Time Period:

Summer semester: 25 January – mid-June 2027 (including time for exam correction)

Teaching Load:

• 4 teaching units per week (1 teaching unit = 45 minutes)
• 12 weeks of instruction + exam period
