Banking Meets Transformation: Financing the AI Infrastructure

The rapid rise of artificial intelligence demands enormous investment in data centres, energy supply and digital infrastructure. But who is financing this buildout? What role do banks and capital markets play, and what opportunities and risks does this create for the financial sector?

The Centre for European Transformation at Frankfurt School of Finance & Management and Bankenverband Mitte invite you to an exclusive lunch format.

Our guest is Sebastian Doerr (PhD), Senior Economist at the Bank for International Settlements (BIS). His research covers financial markets, financial innovation and regulation, with a particular focus on how new forms of financing affect financial stability. Drawing on his latest research, he will offer insights into the financing of the global AI infrastructure boom. Together, we will discuss how financing structures are changing, what role banks, capital markets and alternative capital providers play, and what challenges arise for the financial system.

In a confidential exchange with leading figures from business, academia and politics, key insights will be explored in greater depth and concrete areas for action identified. The lunch offers room for open dialogue, well-founded analysis and personal conversations as equals.
