Europe has a capital-allocation problem. European households save more than American ones, yet too much of that money sits in bank deposits or leaves the continent to finance growth elsewhere. A capital-funded pension pillar is one of the largest levers we have to change that: it turns everyday savers into long-term investors in European companies, strengthening retirement incomes and European competitiveness at the same time.

Few people are better placed to explain what this means than Prof. Jörg Rocholl, PhD. As one of the scientific experts on Germany's Alterssicherungskommission (Rentenkommission), whose 33 recommendations of June 2026 the federal government has committed to implement in full, he is a leading voice for the capital-funded pillar. As Chair of the Academic Advisory Board to the Federal Ministry of Finance and President of ESMT Berlin, he sits exactly where research, capital markets and economic policy meet.

Join us for a frank conversation on turning Germany's pension reform into a blueprint for European capital markets.
