In asset management, the asset class of "closed-end funds" or "closed-end participations" has been established for many years. These products have been called "alternative investment funds" since 2013, AIFs. AIFs can be found in many client portfolios, e.g. in the form of closed-end real estate funds, aircraft funds, funds for renewable energy projects or private equity.
Such investments are particularly attractive on the one hand because of their low correlation to classic capital market products. On the other hand, they have interesting after-tax returns.
