The Rhine-Main region is gaining an important new institution for innovation and entrepreneurship: with the Startup Campus at Bertramshof, a central hub is being created in Frankfurt for technology- and research-driven startups as well as innovation projects. As of September 1, 2024, Frankfurt School of Finance & Management has leased the Bertramshof site from Hessischer Rundfunk. It will become the new home of Futury, the Future Factory for Rhein-Main.

On November 21, the pre-launch event took place at Bertramshof. Around 200 invited guests—including founders, scientists, investors, and partners from business, politics, and academia—were given exclusive insights into the new premises.

Holger Follmann, Startup Commissioner of the State of Hesse, emphasized the importance of the Startup Campus in his speech:

“Hesse has enormous potential: with cutting-edge research, strong industry, and as an international hub, Hesse and the Rhine-Main region offer ideal conditions for startups. For me, it is essential that we produce a winner of the BMWK flagship competition ‘Startup Factories.’ With our two finalists in the decisive round of the competition, we must bring together politics, business, academia, and society to make it easier to found, anchor locally, and scale startups.”

In his role as Startup Commissioner, Holger Follmann coordinates strategic measures to strengthen Hesse as a business location, particularly by promoting, connecting, and attracting startups, scaleups, and international companies.

“We need a new startup mindset in Germany to tackle economic challenges,” said Professor Dr. Nils Stieglitz, President of Frankfurt School of Finance & Management. “With the new Startup Campus, we are taking an important step toward strengthening the entrepreneurial spirit in the region.”

“We are delighted to open the Startup Campus at Bertramshof today. This creates a physical place where founders and visionaries can meet like-minded people to turn new ideas into reality and further develop them on site,” explained Charlie Müller, Managing Director and Co-Founder of Futury.

Melissa Ott, Managing Director of Futury, added:

“From mid-2025, more than 2,000 square meters of office space will provide up to 180 workspaces for startups, investors, and companies to rent. This will create a unique place for new innovations. Through various events and activities, we also aim to open up the startup ecosystem to the broader public.”

With Futury’s Startup Campus, a home is being created for founding teams and startups that aim to shape the future with their ideas. Together with Goethe University Frankfurt, Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz, TU Darmstadt, and Frankfurt School of Finance & Management—the institutions behind the Factory—Futury is setting new standards for strengthening the Rhine-Main innovation hub. By moving into Bertramshof, Futury reinforces its role in the region’s innovation landscape and invites all stakeholders to jointly strengthen and further develop the startup ecosystem.
