GfeW Annual Conference at Frankfurt School

From 23 to 25 September 2026, Frankfurt School of Finance & Management hosted the annual conference of the German Association for Experimental Economic Research (GfeW). Around 80 researchers from across the German-speaking region came together on campus to discuss current research and new developments in experimental and behavioural economics.

GfeW is the world’s oldest association of experimental economists. Its members study human decision-making, taking into account factors that go beyond traditional economic assumptions such as strict rationality and the pursuit of self-interest. Held every September, the annual conference is hosted by a different university in the German-speaking region each year.

Research in Dialogue

Researchers are coming together to exchange ideas on the latest developments and the research frontier in behavioural economics. This is not only a great opportunity for colleagues working in this field at Frankfurt School, but also provides valuable insights for other areas such as behavioural finance and accounting,” says Marcus Giamattei, Professor of Economics (Education) at Frankfurt School.

A Platform for Early-Career Researchers

The conference also provided early-career researchers with an opportunity to present their work and discuss it with senior researchers. Innovative research ideas were further supported through the Reinhard Selten Scholarship. Its namesake, Reinhard Selten, was a founding member of GfeW and received the Nobel Prize in Economic Sciences in 1994 together with John Nash and John Harsanyi.
