Experience Day 2026: Bringing Digitalisation to Life

It is already shaping how companies operate, make decisions and drive innovation. But how can theoretical concepts covered in the Fachwirt in Digitalisation programme be connected to real-world challenges? The Experience Day 2026 for the Fachwirt in Digitalisation at Frankfurt School of Finance & Management showed us how this can work in practice. 

Rather than lectures or traditional case studies, the day focused on meeting people, gaining practical insights and trying out new technologies ourselves. Experience Day showed that digitalisation is something that needs to be experienced, not simply understood. 

Behind the Scenes of Digital Transformation 

One of the highlights was a talk by Stefanie Neumann, CEO of Lufthansa Systems, who gave us fascinating insights into the digital transformation of an international technology company. Learning more about Lufthansa Systems showed us the importance of innovation in an industry where reliability, security and efficiency are essential. 

What made the session particularly interesting was not only the technology itself, but also the strategic perspective. Digitalisation goes far beyond introducing new technologies. It changes business models and processes. At the same time, it became clear that technological innovation is also a leadership responsibility. New ideas can only deliver their full value when employees are brought on board and change is actively managed. 

For me, the session was a powerful example of just how closely business success and digital expertise are connected today. 

Experiencing Technology First-Hand 

Following Stefanie Neumann’s strategic insights, we took a lunch break with a selection of snacks and had the opportunity to tour the Frankfurt School campus. Afterwards, it was time for the practical part of Experience Day. 

Together with Universal Robots, we had the opportunity to programme robots ourselves and explore how they can be used in practice. It quickly became clear that modern robotics is no longer confined to highly automated production facilities. Collaborative robots can support people with repetitive or physically demanding tasks and can be adapted relatively easily to different processes. 

What made the experience particularly valuable was the opportunity not just to watch the robots in a demonstration, but to work with them ourselves. Programming them gave us a much clearer understanding of how intuitive modern automation solutions have become, while also highlighting the requirements that need to be considered when introducing these technologies. 

Where Theory Meets Practice 

The Fachwirt in Digitalisation covers topics including digital business models, process management, artificial intelligence, data management and digital transformation. Experience Day added another important dimension to these subjects: practical application. 

Many of the concepts we had previously discussed in class became tangible. At the same time, the day demonstrated that successful digitalisation requires far more than technical knowledge. Communication, change management and strategic thinking are just as important as the technology itself. 

This combination of academic foundations and practical experience is a key element of the study concept at Frankfurt School. Events such as Experience Day give us the opportunity to connect theoretical knowledge directly with real-world applications, take valuable ideas back into our professional lives and get to know our fellow students in person. 

My Takeaway 

Experience Day 2026 demonstrated how digitalisation becomes easier to understand when people, technology and practical experience come together. 

Our exchange with Stefanie Neumann from Lufthansa Systems highlighted the strategic challenges companies face today. Programming robots from Universal Robots, meanwhile, showed how closely modern technologies are already connected to day-to-day operations and how quickly theoretical knowledge can develop into practical skills. 

For me, Experience Day was therefore much more than an additional event alongside my studies. It showed me the value of direct exchange with companies and the importance of not only analysing digital technologies, but also using them first-hand. It is precisely this combination of academic learning, practical relevance and personal experience that makes the Fachwirt in Digitalisation at Frankfurt School so valuable to me.
