A Decade of Renewable Energy Finance Education

In 2014, Frankfurt School launched the Certified Expert in Climate & Renewable Energy Finance (CECRF), its first fully online certificate programme dedicated to climate and renewable energy finance. At the time, the renewable energy sector was undergoing a period of rapid transformation.

The programme marked the beginning of Frankfurt School's growing portfolio of specialised online certifications in green and sustainable finance. More than a decade later, the CECRF remains one of Frankfurt School's most successful online programmes, attracting over 3,000 participants from more than 120 countries and creating a truly global community of renewable energy and sustainable finance professionals. Yet renewable energy finance has changed dramatically since 2014. And so have the skills required to succeed in the sector.

Why Renewable Energy Finance Looks Different Today

Ten years ago, discussions often focused on how to mobilise funding for renewable energy projects. Today, renewable energy technologies are mature, increasingly competitive and attracting substantial private investment.
