Active and Activist Investors: Experiences and Approaches to Engagement

Under the motto “Active and Activist Investors: Experiences and Approaches to Engagement,” the fourth Annual Conference of the Corporate Governance Institute (CGI) at Frankfurt School took place on 7 February 2024. Around one hundred participants came to the Frankfurt School campus to listen to the experts’ presentations and to take part in the discussion.
A large number of high-profile international speakers examined the topic from different perspectives across the entire ecosystem: activists, active and passive (large-scale) investors, private equity firms, proxy advisors and governance consultants, as well as lawyers, PR agencies and banks.
Highlights included insights from representatives of Norges Bank Investment Management, the world’s largest sovereign wealth fund, and Elliott Advisors, the world’s most prominent activist investor, as well as from Active Ownership, Fresenius SE, Bayer AG, Legal & General Investment Partners and DLA Piper.
The presentations led to lively discussions on this highly topical issue and sparked participants’ interest in holding another conference. The Corporate Governance Institute continues to provide a platform for dialogue and exchange beyond the event itself.
The event was held under the Chatham House Rule.
