New momentum for Frankfurt School’s Friends Association: Sarah Schmidtke, Managing Director of the Bankenverband Mitte and the Interessengemeinschaft Frankfurter Kreditinstitute, has joined the Board of Directors. Dr Lutz R. Raettig, Honorary President of Frankfurt Main Finance and a longtime supporter of Frankfurt School, has assumed the position of Honorary Chair. Angelika Werner, Vice President of Strategic Relations at Frankfurt School, was reappointed to the Board of Directors for another term. The general meeting expressed its confidence in all three members unanimously.
Companies with close ties to Frankfurt School and its students are members of the association. They share their real-world perspectives and support student initiatives.
“Sarah Schmidtke has gained extensive international experience in the financial industry. She represents the financial centre with expertise and verve,” explains Professor Nils Stieglitz, President and CEO of Frankfurt School. Schmidtke has been actively involved with Frankfurt School for several years, including serving on the Advisory Board. “I am grateful for her for her long-standing support—her perspectives are always an asset. We will continue to promote the integration of research and practice, thereby further advancing Frankfurt as Europe’s financial centre. We are very much looking forward to this. I warmly congratulate her on her election to the board of our Friends Association.”
Lutz R. Raettig is also a longtime friend and ally of Frankfurt School, according to Stieglitz: “We are grateful that we can continue to rely on his vast experience. He has held top international positions in the financial sector and is intimately familiar with the financial centre of Frankfurt. As honorary chairman of our Friends Association, he will support us also in the future. We intend to continue training top-tier talent for the financial centre and strengthening it through excellent research. Sarah Schmidtke and Lutz Raettig are key partners in this effort. I would like to thank them both very much for their commitment,” said Nils Stieglitz.
“The financial centre Frankfurt has been close to my heart for many years. Education and research are crucial factors for its long-term viability—both for fostering the next generation of talent and for advancing knowledge and innovation. That is why my commitment to Frankfurt School is particularly important to me. I am very much looking forward to strengthening the interplay between research, education, and financial practice as a member of the Friends Association’s board. I would like to sincerely thank the members for their vote and the trust they have placed in me,” said Sarah Schmidtke.
Lutz R. Raettig adds: “Frankfurt School has established itself as a research-intensive business school. Its graduates hold top positions, and its research is highly regarded in the professional world. The Friends Association plays a central role in this: this is where representatives from human resources departments come together to discuss their needs. I look forward to supporting the continued development of Frankfurt School.”
