Associate Professor of Managerial Accounting

Timo Vogelsang is an Associate Professor of Managerial Accounting at the Frankfurt School of Finance & Management. His research studies incentives, information design, and decision tools to help institutions govern and make decisions more effectively.

His work lies at the intersection of management control and behavioral science. He examines how incentive systems, performance measurement, information design, and algorithmic decision tools shape employee behavior and organizational outcomes. To identify causal effects and underlying mechanisms, he primarily conducts field experiments in firms, complemented (depending on the research question) by laboratory and online experiments, surveys, and archival data.

His research has been published in outlets including the Journal of Accounting Research, Management Science, The Accounting Review, and the Journal of Labor Economics, and has also been featured in Harvard Business Review.

He serves as an Associate Editor at Accounting Open and as a member of the Editorial Board of Management Accounting Research.
