AI Frontiers in Finance
With the AI Frontiers in Finance webinar, we created a quarterly webinar series dedicated to “opening the black box” as to the technical foundations of “AI in Finance” research and providing a bridge to its practical implications and business applications. We want to raise awareness of the AI applications used in academic research and their potential for broader application. This way, the webinar will differ from others by combining expertise and fostering a dialogue that enriches both the academic and professional communities.
Each session brings together an academic and an industry speaker who explore a specific topic relevant to AI in finance, such as AI governance, credit markets, or data infrastructure, through the lens of a real-world case. Drawing on complementary perspectives, academics contribute evidence-based frameworks and research insights, while industry experts share practical experience and lessons learned from implementation. Together, they connect theory and practice, translating key insights into concrete solutions, practical recommendations, and actionable steps that participants can apply immediately.
Session 13 - 8 September 2026
In our next session on 8 September, Albert Menkveld (VU Amsterdam) will talk about how AI systems make decisions in complex analytical tasks, how these decisions differ from those of human experts, and what the implications are for the use of AI in practice.
