Among the top five European business schools in the new ranking published by 5W

Frankfurt School of Finance & Management is the number one business school in German-speaking countries in the new 5W AI Business School Index 2026. It is placed among the top five European business schools and ranks 29th worldwide out of 60 business schools assessed. Stanford Graduate School of Business leads the global ranking, followed by MIT Sloan School of Management and Wharton.

Published for the first time by 5W, a US-based communications firm specialising in AI, the index measures the AI readiness of business schools across 14 countries worldwide. It examines how business schools integrate artificial intelligence into teaching, research and corporate engagement. For the index, 5W assesses institutions across six equally weighted dimensions: 1) AI integration in the curriculum, 2) alums with AI leadership or founder experience, 3) corporate AI partnerships, 4) executive education in AI, 5) business-applicable AI research and 6) AI citation share, the academic visibility of AI research.

The index also highlights significant differences in the extent to which business schools have embedded AI in their programmes. According to the report, 42 per cent of the institutions assessed offer no required AI coursework, offering it only as an elective. The results also point to differences between strategic positioning, research activity and the practical integration of AI into degree programmes.
