Dear FS Community,

We hope that you and your families are well. On Montag, 16 March 2020, the German federal and state governments announced new guidelines for dealing with the spread of the coronavirus. In addition, the Robert Koch Institute today changed its assessment of the health risk in Germany from moderate to high.

In light of this, we have now decided to take further precautionary measures. We want to help reduce the risk of infection.

  • From the morning of Thursday, 19 March 2020 until Sunday, 5 April 2020 inclusive, our campus (including the casino and deli, study spaces and the break-out rooms) will be closed to students and visitors.
  • All exam-relevant courses from Degree Programmes will only be available online until Sunday, 5 April 2020. Assessments and examinations during this period will be either offered online or postponed. Further information regarding this will be communicated in an email soon.
  • All staff members can continue working in the office. Alternatively, you can also work flexibly off-campus. Please coordinate closely with your teams and your manager. We understand that these are difficult times. Together, we will get through them.
  • The gym is now closed until further notice.

It is important for us to continue to offer services in order to maintain the best possible support for you.

  • Students can still contact study advisors by email and/or phone.
  • During the closure, the library will offer a reduced service from Monday to Friday between 09:00 and 15:00. Students will be able to:
    • borrow books (by prior arrangement, please contact library@fs.de),
    • return books (borrowed books do not have to be returned within the due date, the new deadline for all books is 9 April 2020, no late fees will apply),
    • use the databases at terminals in the library foyer,
    • use the printer.
  • If students have any packages to collect, or you are expecting a delivery, please contact communitylife@fs.de.

Access to the library during this time: Please use the separate side entrance to the library on the east side of campus. The campus and the library will continue to be cleaned and disinfected regularly.
